Jazz on the Green a Fun Time for All

Daud El-Bakara Collective serenades the crowd with covers of David Bowie and Herbie Hancock.
Olney’s annual Jazz on the Green was full of live music and a receptive crowd.
A crowd of 40 to 50 people showed up to hear free local and live music in Fisher Park.
The show featured Daud El-Bakara Collective, a jazz band comprised of a keyboardist, electric guitar and bass player and trumpeter. Some young patrons played basketball on the opposite ends on the make-shift stage, but many sat on chairs tucked under the shade, ate some food and enjoyed the music.
The Double Portion Ensemble performed fun, high-pace jazz. Double Portion Ensemble features Randy Gibson of 5th Street’s own Gibson School of Music & Arts in the three-man group.
During an intermission, the event’s creator Ambrose Liu thanked the crowd, participants and local City Hall and Olney organizations for helping to make the event possible.
Liu’s Olney Youth Arts Festival event is scheduled for later this year in Olney.
