Marian Tasco has been the voice of the ninth district in City Hall since 1988 and she went out with a festive bang surrounded by appreciative community members and Philadelphia’s influential politicians.

Dancing group Philadanco, the Bright Hope Baptist Church choir, old-school r&b group The Manhattans and poet Sonia Sanchez performed for Tasco and her guests. Tasco’s guests included City Council President Darrell Clarke, Mayor Nutter, Mayor-elect Kenney and former governor Ed Rendell.

Check out the Philadelphia Tribune’s coverage of the event and find out what Tasco has planned for after her retirement.
