Olney Youth Arts Festival’s third annual event will be in October 2016 and it needs donations to pay for local performers.

Ambrose Liu, the project’s director and a self-proclaimed “big supporter of the arts,” started the Olney Youth Arts Festival in 2013 to highlight the talents and vast diversity in Olney and the local organizations that encourage those talents.

Liu said that the festival does get support from city council and donations, but $8,000 to $10,000 is needed for general operations.

“We have great sponsors, but it’s great to have people involved and to buy in,” said Liu.

The money raised for the festival would go towards general operations and to pay the people and local organizations that come out to perform.

Liu said he’s a big fan of the Olney organizations such as the Gibson Music School, the Cambodian Association of Philadelphia and the Zamar International School of Dance in Olney that have performed for the Olney Youth Arts Festival because they are good examples of the highly talented and diverse people in Olney. Not all of the performers are from the Olney area, but the free event showcases young local talent and various cultures.
