The Dalai Lama comes to La Salle University on October 26 for the teaching of the “Eight Verses for Training the Mind.” The teaching will mesh essential Buddhist tradition with acts of kindness towards others. The Dalai Lama, also referred to as “His Holiness”, is a spiritual and political leader of millions throughout the world.

The 2,000 available tickets are already sold out for the event. The event is scheduled for Oct. 26 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tom Gola Arena at 1900 W. Olney Avenue.

Later in the evening the Dalai Lama is scheduled to receive the 27th Liberty Medal downtown at the National Constitution Center. The 14th Dalai Lama made his first visit to Philadelphia in September 1990 at the University of Pennsylvania, a year after winning the Nobel Peace Prize. The influential Tibetan’s last appearance in the City of Brotherly love was back in 2008 at the Kimmel Center.

For anyone who cannot make it out to the His Holiness’s speaking engagement, La Salle will be streaming the event from its website.
