SEPTA proposes a new bus route in Olney

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) plans to discontinue the C bus route and add two separate routes for SEPTA riders and one would be brand new for Olney.

The C bus currently runs through Pattison and Cheltenham Avenue and a spur that runs down Broad Street and 11th street in Olney.  SEPTA has proposed splitting the route of the C bus into a brand new route 4 bus line that would service riders from Broad Street and 11th street in Olney to AT&T Station in South Philadelphia.  The other proposed route would be the route 16 that would transport riders up and down Broad Street, Cheltenham Avenue and City Hall.

According to SEPTA’s documents, the proposal was filed on Oct. 5, 2011.  SEPTA will outline its proposal to the public on Tuesday Nov. 29 at 12 p.m. at SEPTA headquarters downtown at 1234 Market Street.

On SEPTA’s site it said the idea was created to “improve customer service and streamline transit communications”.   CBS reports the new route could begin as early as mid-February 2012 if approved by the SEPTA board.
