Police Arrest Wrong Suspect, Now They Say They Have the Right Guy

After admitting police officers arrested the wrong man, police officers now say they have the right guy in custody for breaking into a car, stealing a gun and shooting at officers in the Logan section of the city on Thursday Nov. 17.

Chief Inspector Joe Sullivan says the suspect fired three times at officers after breaking into a car and stealing a gun from the car.  An hour later a man was in custody for the robbery and shooting but was let go after the police declared he was not the correct guy.

Now, police officers say they have the right man.  30-year-old James Ceaser of West Philadelphia has been arrested for and is accused of the Thursday morning robbery on the 600 block of East Elmwood Street.

Sullivan warns for all residents not to leave their firearms in their vehicles.

“This is something we need to stress to people,” says Sullivan. “Your vehicle is not a place to store your firearm, buy a lock box and store it in your home.”
